Reckoning With Jesus....

If we started at the birth of Jesus it would take too long to reach the point of this page.  Instead we’ll look at perhaps Jesus’ most dogmatic statement.  He said: I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.  John 14:6 NLT

Using the phrase I am in this way Jesus linked Himself intimately with God Almighty.  On another occasion He asked His followers: Who do you say I am? Peter replied, You are the Messiah sent from God! Luke 9:20 NLT

Peter hit the nail on the head.  Calling Jesus the Messiah made Him equal to, the same as or one with God Almighty.  It calls Him divine.
C. S. Lewis, the theologian and popular writer (e.g. The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe; Mere Christianity), argued: Jesus is either the Son of God or a madman or something worse.....He is either LORD, Liar or Lunatic .....Mad, Bad, or God.  This is Lewis’ Trilemma (not dilemma!).

When you know He’s made such claims and allowed Himself to be called the Messiah, you need to reckon with Jesus.  You must face Lewis’ trilemma and decide which of those alternatives you believe apply to Him.
We believe Jesus is the Son of the Living God.  During His life on earth He told fascinating stories and did remarkable miracles.  But much more, and in a way we find difficult to explain, God’s perfect Son took our sins upon Himself when He was crucified.  He died that we might be forgiven.

That’s how Jesus is our faultless, one and only way to the Father.  We call Him Saviour.
