The Book We Read....

The Bible is a compilation of 66 books of varying lengths.  39 of them (The Old Testament) were written before the birth of Jesus Christ.  The other 27 (The New Testament) were written after His birth.

Christians believe the human writers of these 66 books were inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit in what they wrote and how.  So we take The Bible to be our God given code and guide for revealing Him and the way He wants us to live.

Each Bible Book is divided into chapters and verses.  So when we mention specific parts of The Bible in these notes we use the traditional method of referencing: e.g. John 3:16 - that is the name of The Book (John), followed by the chapter in the book (3), followed by the verse (16). John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

As the Books of The Bible were originally written in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek all English versions are translations.  Of the many translations existing we tend to use the NEW LIVING TRANSLATION (NLT) or the NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION (NIV)

We Believe the Bible is the Word of God and that in The Bible we find God’s will for our lives.  We also believe that the Holy Spirit helps us understand The Bible.
